Survival English Classes

During the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the education and training services for refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers (RMAs) in Cyprus were shut down.

In collaboration with Caritas Cyprus, our pilot program, “Survival English Classes” was created, where students could learn basic English skills for everyday life and emergencies. Taught remotely, teachers in India engaged with a core group of 15 students in 60 to 90 minute sessions, four times a week. Students could participate in a small-scale virtual classroom environment from the safety of their homes with the help of their smartphones.

The classes proved to be a success, and we are eager to continue with our Professional Online English Language Training and Mentoring program. Find out more on our Medium blog.

The Project Phoenix team meets with ELT professionals in India over Zoom to discuss the program.
